BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A man who called the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office regarding an eviction has been shot by a deputy during a confrontation at a home in Brooksville.

Deputies responded to a call at the home Thursday morning after the man told dispatchers he was going to set the house on fire.

Sheriff’s officials say the man became extremely aggressive and deadly force was used.

The man was airlifted to a trauma center with what deputies described as “life-threatening” injuries.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will conduct an investigation.
